Wooley Dutton
Wooley Dutton spent her youth largely in England and Australia, was educated in the Midwest with apprenticeship in Mexico, and achieved career success in Boston. But it is two small islands, one in Florida and one in Rhode Island, that most intimately inform her work.
Wooley Dutton’s entire career focus has been in the world of visual arts integrating branding and communications development across a broad range of categories especially from her former role as managing Partner, Director of Design, at The Boston Group. Today, Wooley’s visual acuity is focused on painting. In her studios in Anna Maria and Jamestown, Wooley is a prolific painter immersed in the exploration of color play, personalities and the environment.
Artist’s Statement
“Images emerge from my own life experience and surroundings. I am fascinated with the "feeling" in a situation — the depth of a personality, the lightness of soaring through the clouds, the stillness of the night heron stalking dinner, the breeze in tall grasses and the energy of birds taking flight. Creating spontaneous faces or abstractions that flow through my fingers just brings me joy. No matter what I am painting, the goal is always the same --- Push it to the max."
