Patty Castellini is known for her colorful abstract monotype prints, paintings, and collages. Based in Enfield, NH, Patty first discovered her love for printmaking when she began volunteering at AVA Art Center in Lebanon, NH - a position which evolved into a twenty-five year teaching career. Taking great delight in the creative process, both her own and that of her students, Patty believes creating art is something that can engage everyone. “It is this dual process of teaching and painting that adds to much meaning to my life,” she notes.

What feeling do you hope your art evokes for a first time viewer?
I hope the first time viewer sees or feels a memory associated with the color I use. I hope they see their own story. I hope they are curious to learn what it is that is making them look at my work.
What drives you to create?
The printmaking process drives me to create. It has held my attention over the years with it's meditative and peaceful steps along with the element of surprise. The sensorial experiences involved with mixing and seeing the colors is a joyful process for me.
Who are your favorite artists?
I love painting with children. I enjoy many artists Paul Klee, Chizuko Yoshida, Hashguchi, Yayoi Kusama, Helen Frankenthaler, Edvard Munch, Mary Cassatt, Andrew Wyeth, Picasso.
